FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

If this is the first time you've sought the services of a Professional Organizer, below are answers to some of the most often asked questions.
How long is a typical organizing work session?

Hands-on organizing sessions are scheduled in 4 hour blocks, either morning or afternoon.

If I'm moving, or you're helping my parents move---are you more flexible about your session length?

Yes. For household moves and other life event organizing projects where we can plan well in advance, we schedule full  days to get our clients moved and settled as quickly as possible. We're focused on minimizing life disruption.

What if the professional organizer tells me to get rid of something I want to keep?

Whoa, this isn't a TV show.  This is your organizing project and you're the boss. Please review the role of a professional organizer before you read any further.

What if I want some guidance on how to organize my space---but I want to do the nitty-gritty organizing myself?

No problem. We offer three levels of service.  We'll help you create an organizing plan so that your project is a success. You'll have all the information you need to do the hands-on organizing on your own, with a friend, or with as much or as little on site help from us as you feel you need or want.

What if I just want my space professionally organized---without taking a lot of time away from my professional commitments?

You may be a fit for our "Hand It Off" project management services.  You'll provide the vision, and we'll make it happen.  For more on our organizing project management services, review our three levels of  service.

Can I pay by credit card?

Sure. We accept American Express, Visa,  MasterCard, and Discover.

Do you require a long term commitment?

Commitment to hire us long term? No.  Commitment to making changes in the way you do things to maintain your organizing success?  Well, commitment does help in the long run,  but you can do it in baby steps.  Our services are offered on a pay-as-you go basis, and you may start and stop at any time (but we ask you to give us 48 hours notice if you need to reschedule or take a break from working with us.).

Do you charge a cancellation fee?

YES.   We charge 50% of the booked session fee for appointments cancelled with less than one full business day's notice, EXCEPT in the case of sudden illness or an emergency.

Will I have to do homework?

Only if you want to---it's up to you. At the end of each session, we’ll summarize accomplishments, plan for any steps you may be willing to do in our absence, and review what's next.

It is better to know some of the questions than all of the answers.
